Living Autopsy

I caught myself the other night watching yet another show on how the weakness of the media and the painfully obvious lies from the Bush Administration led us into war. Even the mainstream Discovery channel has run documentaries tracing the path of deceit that led the country to an illegal war.

Normally, this clarity of perspective is reserved for history, after the truth of shady political decisions shakes out over prevailing years, like Johnson's Vietnam or Nixon's paranoia. But these days the manipulation is so blatant, the motives so antithetical to democracy, the lies so baldfaced that no retrospective is necessary. It's there for all to see.

We're lying on the table, being shown our own disease, right before our eyes, and denying it.

Yeah we were lied to. But how is this an "illegal war"? What is illegal about it?

You just say stuff, don't you?

What about the UN authorizations to use force?
What about Saddam's idiocy? If there is nothing to hide, let the inspectors in and Bush and Co. can't justify an attack.

Drill in Alaska and build Hydrogen burning cars ASAP.

Of course China, India etc will just keep buying and using the oil with their new found industry and prosperity. (Brought about by the American consumer)

On second thought let's just admit we are there for the oil and take it. Forget the nation building.

You hate Bush so bad you can't see the forest for the trees.

Face it BD, you like driving to work (fueled by cheap gas) and you have to have the power grid to run your cyber world. It's all so ironic.

Bush is just giving you what you are demanding. The way you whine about the price of a baby I know you'd melt down on $3.00 a gallon gasoline.

Go forth and conquer.

Who are you? Do we even know you? You address Tat as though you know him. You question his opinions that he posts on HIS site. You seem to swallow the mush that we call journalism readily but you have a problem with an individual creating their own site to share thier own views on life. I can understand you wanting to share your views but I hope you realize how silly you sound to the people we know who read this blog. I don't know if your goal is to convert people to your ways of ?thinking but if it is you might learn something from the "gather more flies with honey" saying. You might also think about creating your own blog so you can have a platform for your views totally. Exchange is good but only if it makes sence and is done in good humor.

I think the wrath of Little Nicky is coming..... :)

Exchange is good she said...[but only if I know you and if you agree with everything I say]

This is a cool blog and I agreed with the post on drug testing in school. How's that for honey?

I don't expect to convert anybody. I know BD has the guts and the brains to create a very public forum, I'm just wondering if he has the fortitude to consider competing or even slightly divergent views.

Posted by: Trickhorn at January 12, 2004 11:38 PM

Well, I won't speak to B's guts, however, I will comment on the illegal war occuring as we speak in Iraq.

The war in Iraq is ILLEAGAL. Period. I don't care if the UN has the balls to call it that or not. Sorry bubba, we invaded a SOVERGN country preemptively. And, we did so without the endorsement of the world community. Why should care about the rest of the world community, you ask? Well, gee bubba, we have to do commerce with them. If we continue along this path, we're gonna end up just like that other famous world pariah...Nazi Germany.

You know what, Trick, you're right though. We should just call a spade a spade and declare manafest destiny on Iraq's oil. I mean really, whom are fooling?

In Haliburton we trust. Amen.

Trickhorn, you are a manifestation of why I can't have a decent conversation with a radical conservative: you make snide, personal attacks and then throw your hands up in innocense - "what, me?" Come on, you aren't participating in exchange, you're trying to get personal. What you missed in Denise's post was the thing you seem to lack: a sense of humor. Divergent views (although your use of the word "slightly" is hardly a good choice) are what makes this country great; closed-minded arguments are not fruitful and you seem to be full of those.

I think it's great that you have opposing views, but it would be nice if you could post them without personally attacking Bryan. Yes it is a public forum but it's also a friends and family thing, so why don't you try to keep it light when you post? Or, at least go to forum if you want to have a debate. I'm sure you'll get plenty of responses.

Bryan has been down the religious path and has made a conscious decision to think for himself now instead of blindly following what most christians consider the word of god. Can't you handle that? Does it drive you crazy that he is a thinker and you are a follower? Perhaps you could learn something from him so listen up!

Posted by: Deb Taranik at January 13, 2004 08:38 AM

I didn't get personal. But you guys have.

Denise called me "Silly". Busta called me "Bubba" and Deb called me "Radical".

So predictable. Ya'll are using the names and labels but I'm the one getting personal. Right!

I think I will venture over to the forum from time to time. You guys need practice.

BTW, Busta said it best: "You know what Trick your right...". Ha!

Gang don't get to disheartened we (the US) have been engaging in imperialistic nation building since long before any of us were born. How do you think we got into the Phillipines or built the Panama canal?

These debates and concerns are legitimate but old.

Our govt. has lied to us. Bush should be held accountable.

None of this is new. I'm not saying it's right. It's just not new. We are far from being Nazi Germany.

One last thing on this comment thread: A lot of the content of this blog is not leadership or original. It's straight out of the teacher's union playbook. Disagreeing with it does not mean I have a weak mind or that I'm a follower.

The most original content I've seen is Denis's artwork and the commentary/instruction on LINUX. Those things do imply originality and leadership.

I repeat: "What, me? But I'm so innocent!"

No one falls for it.

Posted by: Deb Taranik at January 13, 2004 10:24 PM

Well, Trickhorn, if it's so old and uninteresting for you, why are you hanging around? So far none of us has given your posts much thought, (except for the nuisance factor) and there isn't much interest in what you say. It's merely entertainment to argue with someone as conservative as you are. Your posts are boring and transparent and lack any amount of philosophical thinking. Once again: follower.

You come across as a person who is very condescending - that is what annoys me about you; not your conservative views. Why not just appreciate what Bryan has done instead of trying to tear apart his opinions?

Guess what? We all know history repeats it itself. We didn't need you to teach us that, though I'm sure you'll take the credit. We simply enjoy discussing our views. Think you could do that without acting like you're better than all of us liberals? There are mature ways to put forth one's beliefs without trying to purposely step on the toes of those who disagree. Perhaps that is a skill you haven't yet mastered. Obviously.

Posted by: Deb Taranik at January 13, 2004 10:41 PM

Personal attacks blah blah blah.

Deb, I'm posting between phone calls, BBS posts, emails and stock trades etc. This is the comment board of a personal blog. I ain't gonna write a novel or cite a bunch of philosophers. But which is it? Am I a "nuisance" or am I "entertaining"? Perhaps I'm an entertaining nuisance.

I sincerely pledge to put forth my beliefs without stepping on any toes. Although I'm not sure that is possible here. I also pledge to attempt to avoid a condescending tone.

Posted by: Trickhorn at January 14, 2004 12:28 AM

Yeah well I write my posts at night after seeing patients all day - it's a light thing for me as well. It's fine to post your views on this site, but you keep making personal attacks on Bryan and then you try to act all innocent and accuse us of attacking you. Hang it up because we all see through it. You are being a nuisance and all I'm asking is that you cut it out. Post your comments without telling Bryan or anyone else that they are dead wrong; just state your opinion and leave it at that. You'll find most people are much more accepting of opposing views when those views are stated in such a manner that does not invoke the desire to defend one's self.

We appreciate your thoughts and your pledge to do better. And, while you're here, why don't you fill us all in on who you are?

Posted by: Deb Taranik at January 14, 2004 08:26 AM

Trickhorn,

Please allow me to apologize for calling you, "Bubba."

I tend to use that term when I'm trying to make a point that I think is glaringly obvious. I didn't mean to offend you or upset you.

By the way, "Bubba" is redneck for "Brother."

"Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. There's, um, shrimp kebabs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There's pineapple shrimp and lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich... That's, that's about it." - Bubba Blue from the motion picture "Forrest Gump."
