Happy Birthday to Me
38.
Some things I remember more vividly than others:
I was alive when we landed on the moon--using slide rules.
I possessed 8-tracks and records.
Pong is the coolest thing I've ever seen, still.
Banana seats.
Corduroy.
Jaws.
Star Wars.
Close Encounters hand signals.
3 channels, no remote.
Treehouses and forts. No videogames.
Reading Lord of the Rings and Dune.
Commodore64.
Laserdisc.
HBO and MTV premieres.
My Schwinn 10-speed.
Legos.
Playboys.
Rebuilding and painting bicycles.
Hot Rod subscription.
Model train layout.
Little League baseball.
3-wheelers.
LaRonica Rose's 8th-grade titties.
Passing notes in church.
Sunday lunch at Dairy Queen.
Ford LTD station wagon.
Long hair.
Ditches and culverts.
Two-a-days.
Three high schools in four years.
Benjamin air rifle.
97 Rock.
"Wings" haircut.
We remember too & celebrate this special day with you. It is great to know you had your "bike gifts" accumulated for this day!! I have one more BD gift waiting for you in Kingwood!! I found the item today.
Your life has given us so much to cherish through these thirty eight years. We celebrate you today!!!
May you be richly blessed with many more excellent years
Happy Birhtday,
Mom & Dad
Happy Birthday D!!
I still remember about this time 18 years ago, on the third floor of Watkins Hall, drinking beer, playing Nintendo, listening to those new things called CDs, talking smack about high school football!!
We've come a long way since then, but it's been a good trip. And, a lot of good things have happened to you on the way: Denise, realizing your calling (teaching), Molly. ...you know, the things that allow you, no matter where you are, to have your feet planted firmly in the ground, and to have hope in your heart. To be able to define and know who you are. That's your real birthday gift. And you get to have it every day...
I just have one comment (I know, a first for me). There is something I don't see on the list: a yellow Ford Currier, lowered, and thumpin...
Happy birthday again, and many more!

I will translate: I love you Daddy. from Molly
Posted by: Denise at October 12, 2005 04:09 PMI have to "third" the Ford Currier comment. I didn't remember the name "Currier", but YELLOW is still my favorite color today. Hard to believe it has been 20+ years. ( I'm surprised Bob Seger didn't make the list.)
