We Hold Molly at Four Days Old

Finally, we were able to hold Molly for a couple hours today. She didn't like being handled and emitted a strong and welcome cry before settling down to sleep on first on mom's chest and then mine. Her warmth was amazing, a little three-pound heat machine. It was hard not to just cry from joy. All news is good at this point.

I reflected today on the confusing and exhilarating feelings of being a father in hopes of pinpointing the essence. It's humility. My ego surrenders to an all-encompassing concern for the well-being of this child, and nothing else matters, not even my life. The change is emancipating and spiritually renewing at the same time it limits and focuses the mind's perspective. Magnificently confusing and intricate; simple and primal.

Now I'm starting to sound like a wine salesman. Or maybe I just need a glass of wine. Anyway, check out some added pics.
