Halloween 2005

Molly went trick-or-treating for the first time tonight. She was up past her bedtime, but, boy, what a time she had. Screaming, oohing, ahhing, and running with a pumpkin full of candy, which Dad and Mom get to eat. She dressed as butterfly fairy, and you can see her here.

Sonograms Good for the Heart

Two good pieces of news today. Denise saw the first images of baby #2 (Codename Peanut) and heard its heartbeat. It's about 5mm, which is roughly the size of a piece of rice.

And good news for my health. My weight loss and exercise regimen impressed the doctor enough that he took me off my BP medicine. His decision is one of the most gratifying pieces of news I've ever heard, right up there with "Yes, I will marry you," "Your air conditioner is still under warranty," and "Oh yeah, penicillin will fix that."

Child 2.0

We're pregnant again. We figure boogerbucket #2 will show up around June, but a doctor's visit or two should give us a more accurate due date. Knowing what's coming makes for less anxiety, but the creation of a new life is just as magical the second time around. Children are truly the "realest" event in life, giving meaning, focus, hope, pleasure, and infernal consternation in one convenient package.

Hopefully this one will be a little less eventful than Molly's tempestuous arrival. I think the cosmos owes us a little less drama.

In other news, I'm down about sixty pounds now. I'm visiting the doctor in a couple of days to re-evaluate my blood pressure medicine. Even on half doses, my BP is low, measuring 112/72 sometimes. I get dizzy standing up. Guess that happens when you drop 20% of your body weight, which is a nice problem to have. Fifty more pounds to go and you can look for me modeling underwear for Sears.
